Apple filling: Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan and simmer on stovetop for half an hour.
Crumble topping: Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
Combine flour, butter and egg in a mixing bowl until combined, but still resembles coarse breadcrumbs
Pour apple filling into medium pie dish. Cover with crumble topping. Sprinkle sugar and buckwheat kernels on top and cook in oven for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
